Title: Suspension of Rule 331 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha provides for laying of recommendations of the Rules Committee deals the Welfare and the dignity of women. TEXT : SHRIMATI GEETA MUKHERJEE (PANSKURA): Mr. Speaker, Sir, thank you for permitting me to move the motion. I beg the indulgence of the House to explain in two minutes why I have tabled the motion and why I want your support. Day after tomorrow, the 8th March is the International Women's Day. But unfortunately that day being a holiday, our House will not be in Session. This report which has been laid here deals with the setting up of a Committee which is supposed to exhaustively deal with all measures taken for the welfare and the dignity of women by the Union Government. Therefore, I want that this Report of the Rules Committee be adopted by the House today itself as a present of the House to the women on the occasion of International Women's Day.

With this introduction, I beg to move: -

"That this House do suspend part of Rule 331 (1) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Lok Sabha in so far as it provides for laying of the recommendations of the Rules Committee on the Table of the House for a period of seven days, to enable members to give notice of amendments to such recommendations together with consequential provisions to this extent in Rule 331 (2) and (3) in their application to the laying of the Second Report of the Rules Committee."

MR. SPEAKER : The question is :

The motion was adopted.
